Nythel was another of the Divines that the people loved to praise and worship. It is fair to say that she and Isithel were the favorites by the masses for their benevolence. Worshipped as the goddess of life itself, Nythel touch nearly every facet of a life well lived. Crops and cattle, childbirth, even the decisions both grand and mundane that are encountered on the path of life, were her demesne and the temples of Nythel were sought for their blessing and wisdom.
Her symbol is easily found even today, and is a that of a tree whose branches grow down to intertwine with its roots. It signifies the cycle of rebirth that many believed in during the height of religion, and the tree is a simple symbol of life on its own.
Nythel was beloved by the masses, that much is obvious, but even more interesting is the belief that even the other deities, Exemplars and Atrocities, respected her. She worked heavily with Isithel in promoting the growth of life through learning and Kalrilak with his stance on healing and supporting the sick and weary. Her zest for life was considered an inner light that priests of Vothak pointed towards for others to emulate. Even Yog-Isith, Shub-Nyth and Yog-Kal respected her for the fact that without life they would be of little import. Only the Impartials, The Lady and Fate and the Atrocitus Shub-Voth were indifferent to her charms.
